Scarf Sales

I'm sure most of you know by now I have been selling scarves, that I get from Africa, as a way to fundraise to pay for this project of building a new home for Karim Orphanage. This is how it works if you don't know~I wire the money to Rehema, the 28 year old who runs the Orphanage, through Moneygram. She gets the money in 10 minutes! She then goes to the market in Tanzania and buys the scarves; takes them to the UPS office and packs them up and ships them to me. UPS charges me about $225.00 but I get the scarves in about 4-5 days at my door! I assumed 200 would be lots and I would make a little extra money for the Orphanage...well was I wrong! The response has been overwhelming and I CAN NOT keep up! I just place my 5th order with Rehema this week making that "900" scarves I have ordered. I have sold 700 for a total profit of $12,000.00!!! This is so amazing that I can not believe it! I have wired $2000.00 for the childrens school fees and uniforms and $10,000.00 has been sent to the contractor to complete the house. Rehema and the children of Karim Orphanage and myself would like to THANK each of you who bought scarves and helped sell the scarves. You have made a dream come true for me and all these children.

Also, a big thank you to 2 volunteers that also spent time in Africa at Karim...Bryce from edmonton and Lauren from winnipeg, who I met online. They too wanted to help...Bryce raised $5700.00 and Lauren raised about $4000.00 and both have sent me the funds for Karim Orphanage.

An 8 foot concrete wall will go up around the property of the acre of land next once the house is done. Also, we need more beds, since there are only 3 beds now for 12 children and 3 adults. So, we still have a few more things to pay for before the project is complete. I still have scarves if anyone is interested! Also, you can make a donation and get a tax receipt at http://www.bridgesofhope.ca/ go to Projects, then to Tanzania...you will find the Karim Orphange project!

Thank you, again

An update on the Construction

The roof is on~after only 3 1/2 months! That was alot faster than my house. This week the contractor will start on the electrical as well as the solar power. The solar power cost a little bit more money $2500.00 but will be well worth it for Rehema because she will have no electrical bills to pay. We are still on track for completion ~ March. So I will be heading to Africa the middle of March to help Rehema and the children move into their new home.
