the House of Hope

House of Hope's progress.......

House of Hope's beautiful property

inside the wall's

a whole lot of grass to cut by hand

the grass is cut... now we can dig

Digging the foundation for the House of Hope took a little longer than expected because of the rain but I am excited to say we are finally ready for concrete.

The intense physical labor that went into digging this foundation by six young guys is beyond crazy! It was all dug by hand with only a pic and shovel.

The rain and mud made it very difficult for these guys to wear their shoes while working, so most of the time they were barefoot while digging with a shovel.
You have no idea what 'labor' really is until you watch these guys work for just one hour and they would do this work for 8 to 10 hours in a day.

Everyday I visited the site I was always greeted with a big smile and a "habari asubuhi Mama" (swahili for good morning).  I am truly grateful that we have such a great team of hard working guys who are doing an amazing job building 'House of Hope' with their bare hands!

done after 4 weeks of 8 to 10 hours a day of physical labor

*House of Hope will be a place for the girls of Tanzania who have hopes and dreams. A place where we will empower these young girls with education to become successful young woman.
