Education

"Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world"  ~  Nelson Mandela

To put on a uniform, to sit in a classroom and learn to read and write is truly a privilege and an honour for some girls around the world.  Education is a gift like no other to a girl in Tanzania. You not only educate the girl but you educate her family and her community.

For a full sponsorship of $950.00 Cad for the entire year they will receive:  tuition, two school uniforms, a track suit, school bag, school supplies, porridge in the morning, a hot lunch, a bus ride to and from home and of course an Education.  That is only $2.60 a day for the gift of Education and to put a big smile on a young girl's face.

As a Sponser you will receive updates on your child,  report cards, pictures and letters. And if you like, maybe one day come to Tanzania and visit her and her family.

Here are a just a few girls in Tanzania that are in need of a sponsor today because they have lost their sponsors.

Glory is 7 years old

Jullieth is 13 years old

Magreth is 14 years old

If you would like to give the gift of Education and sponsor one of these girls or help out by making a donation to their Education fund please contact me or go to the link below to make your donation.

the House of Hope

House of Hope's progress.......

House of Hope's beautiful property

the new gate to House of Hope

the future home of 'House of Hope'

inside the wall's

a whole lot of grass to cut by hand

the grass is cut... now we can dig

Digging the foundation for the House of Hope took a little longer than expected because of the rain but I am excited to say we are finally ready for concrete.

The intense physical labor that went into digging this foundation by six young guys is beyond crazy! It was all dug by hand with only a pic and shovel.

The rain and mud made it very difficult for these guys to wear their shoes while working, so most of the time they were barefoot while digging with a shovel.
You have no idea what 'labor' really is until you watch these guys work for just one hour and they would do this work for 8 to 10 hours in a day.

Everyday I visited the site I was always greeted with a big smile and a "habari asubuhi Mama" (swahili for good morning).  I am truly grateful that we have such a great team of hard working guys who are doing an amazing job building 'House of Hope' with their bare hands!

done after 4 weeks of 8 to 10 hours a day of physical labor

*House of Hope will be a place for the girls of Tanzania who have hopes and dreams. A place where we will empower these young girls with education to become successful young woman.

the House of Hope

Millions of young girls of Africa do not get the opportunity to sit in a classroom and get an education. Especially the ones that are ages 13 to 18 because secondary schooling is very expensive and almost double that of primary school. Most parents can not afford this cost of education or do not have sponsors so these young girls are forced to stay home and work.  Many of them become pregnant and are married by the age of 15 and 16. These girls deserve a chance at looking forward to a better tomorrow and a brighter future. They deserve a chance to sit in a classroom and getting an education. When you educate a girl in Africa, you not only educate her,  you educate her family,  her community and a Nation.

So Bridges of Hope's has a new project called the 'House of Hope.' It is going to be a safe home for the girls of Tanzania between the ages of 13 and 18 years old, where we will empower them through education so they will become successful young woman. It will be a place of Hope!  Because once they have hope, anything is possible for them.

We have already purchased the piece of land in a beautiful area of Tanzania with a perfect view of Mt Meru and a concrete wall has been constructed around the property. A contractor has been hired and is anxiously waiting to start construction. The first phase is to lay the foundation which we will start in May before rainy season so the foundation has four to five months to sit before the house is constructed in October.

We are still in need of funds to reach our goal. We need your help so the House of Hope can help these girls. There is no greater feeling of happiness than making someone else happy.  Please help by going to the link below and making a charitable donation to Bridges of Hope's new project 'House of Hope.'
