Tire Playground

The playground got started and took alot longer than expected. Without the proper tools~like a drill, saw etc, your everyday normal tools that we have~it is very difficult to do things. So we bought all new tools! We had our neighbor, Julius, who is also our security guard at night, bring in 100 tires. He brought them by wheel barrell about 2 kilos. Then the tires were all washed by hand because they were all covered with cow & goat poop~The kids were more than happy to help! Hired a crew of 5 guys to build a wall around the playground; brought in 5 truck loads of sand and 4 truck loads of gravel. The people here think I am ABSOLUTELY nuts to bring in sand for the children to play in~they say sand is too expensive for children to play in!! It cost $70,000.00 TSH per truck which is about $50 canadian for 7 ton truck~which is someones wages for 3 months!!
