We arrived an hour late, 10:30pm, wed Feb 2....but we are here, SAFE and Sound. Our first 2 days were fantastic, of course. The excitement in the children is always overwhelming, especially with someone's first visit, like Mama Jody. The children were sleeping when we arrived but we had to wake them to say hi. Saumu was the first to spot, Mama Linda, and jumped off the top bunk to give me a big hug. They were all excited to meet the new comers, Mama Jody, Hannah and Alex.
Thursday and friday the children were in school so we got some things done in town...food, water, toilet paper, etc. Cleaned up the yard so it is ready now for the construction of the playground which will start monday. 100 tires are arriving slowly but will all be here soon. We hired our neighbor, Julius, to get the 100 tires~He is using a wheel barrell ~7 at a time ~2 miles!!
Friday night~an awesome night~christmas eve at Karim! Lots of music, dancing, singing and games. We told the children they had to get to bed because we had a big surprise in the morning~Christmas! The look of excitement~can't describe it! One more song and they would go to bed. Saumu picked the song~her favorite~Michael Jackson..."We are the World" The children started singing and knew ALL the words. They came to the part "We are the children, we are the ones who make a better place so lets start giving".....Jody and I looked at each other and the tears started rolling down our cheeks. Rehema said don't cry Mama Linda and Mama Jody" but HOW can you not.
After the children went to bed, we got to work...the tree went up, decorated, wrapped presents, stuffed the xmas stockings~christmas table clothes, napkins and christmas candy on the table. We got to bed at 1am.
how can you not is right!! I'm crying right now as I type! Happy tears, of course!
