Our first few days

Well, we finally made it here. The kids were so happy to see us. Lots to do around here but all the contractors and neighbors are here and ready to get to work. The 'Rafiki House' has started, the new water well has started as well as the bringing electricity to the house. Rehema's brother, Juma, and our neighbor, Ernest have started on another project for us too. We are putting a retaining wall around the whole house to hold all the gravel we brought in. Also the will pour a concrete pad for Rehema's 'laundry room' ! Heather come up with an idea for her garden so she will help Juma do a 'box garden' and do some planting with him. Heather and JOy are doing great and loving it. This is their first time here and sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming!
It hasn't stopped raining and it is not even rainy season!! But that hasn't stopped anybody from showing up for work. The contractors walk because the road is so muddy the vehicles are getting stuck. Also the road is so muddy, the school bus can't make it to the house. So, you know what that means~you got it~we are walking and carrying the kids to the main road to catch a bus to school. Everyday we walk to school with someone on our back! This morning the bus driver phoned and said he would try to drive the road~bad idea. We were waiting at 6am for the bus to arrive and the driver phoned and said he was stuck and we were to walk! When we told the kids they need to get their rubber boots on cause we were walking again...they started yelling and cheering as they ran to get their boots!! Imagine that~excited to walk to school in the mud and rain. Then Heather, Rehema, Dada, Juma and myself pussed for an hour till the bus was out and the kids were on their way. It is 8am and I am exhausted already!
Still having trouble will loading the hundreds of pictures I have taken but promise I will have some up in a day or two. Back to work I go.
