Still in Amsterdam

Well, I left home wednesday morning 10am and it is now 6am friday in Amsterdam and I am still not there! We have a 10 hour flight today to Kilimanjaro and should arrive friday night 7:45 pm. Excited to see who will all be at the airport when we arrive. My friends Heather and Joy are holding up but getting very anxious to just get there! This is their first trip to Africa. Well, I always say "things happen for a reason" and I still believe that. We were stuck at the Calgary airport for over 12 hours because our pilot got sick and they had to let the pilot, that just landed, get a 10 hour break and sleep. That's a good thing~sleep is always good before you fly a large plane 9 hours! Especially when I am one of the passengers. While at the airport, we met some others that were stranded but one lady in particular, Sara Lashkari. She is on her way to visit her family in Tehran, Iran. We chatted at the calgary airport and continued to run into each other~on the plane, amsterdam airport, the bus and the Hotel that KLM put us up in. We then invited her to have supper with us. Over supper, wine and some laughs we chatted about what I do in Africa. She said she has always wanted to go do something like that and would love to go sometime. And of course, somehow....someway....."Oprah" was mentioned! Imagine that! haha Anyway, she loves Oprah, tapes it and happened to watch the season premiere! She said when she gets home now, she will have to watch it over again so she can see the story of me that was featured. So there you have it! I was delayed for a reason~to meet a new friend! We exchanged emails, she is on facebook and is going to follow my blog. Love it! Always stay positive and positive will happen! On my way to the airport~talk to you from Africa!

  1. I imagine you are there by now Linda! Hopefully!! The girls (Paige in particular) have been sharing your blog with their friends and teachers and the students in her class even have an e-mail conference where they are sharing ideas on how to help the kids at Karim Orphanage. When you get a chance send us your skype account and we'll try to hook up with you. Of course I imagine you are not quite settled..so we'll give you a bit of time. Keep smiling Linda! x0
